History of Scholarship
The Patterson Scholarship was established in January 1997. Kermit Patterson taught in EKU's College of Business from 1955 to 1982. His wife, Opal, taught in the Department of Biological Sciences from 1956 to 1968.
Mrs. Patterson received her Master's Degree in Education from EKU in 1958.
Interest from the generous estate bequest from the Pattersons supports
scholarships for four-year students in any MMAC areas.
The Scholarship awards at least $2,600 per year for six students. The scholarship may be renewed annually and additional monies can be provided for an international experience.
This scholarship is stackable. Monies received from this scholarship do not affect eligibility for other financial aid or scholarships. The number of semesters for which a student is eligible to receive the Scholarship is determined by the Scholarship Committee.
