Congratulations! Burgess Top Intern in the State

Vanessa Burgess

A junior participating in Eastern Kentucky University’s Cooperative Education Program has been selected as the top intern in the state for Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Vanessa Burgess, a management major who graduated from Boyle County High School and now resides in Richmond, was chosen from among students from Murray State University, Campbellsville University, Western Kentucky University, University of Kentucky, University of Louisville, University of Southern Indiana and University of Detroit-Mercy.

This is the second time in five years that an Eastern student has been selected as the top intern in Kentucky. Jane Davis was selected in 2004, the year she earned a marketing degree.

Interns are awarded points based on a number of criteria, including corporate client development, customer service, retail sales and a marketing project. Burgess’s score of 550 is the highest recorded by an intern in recent memory, according to Mike Hammond, recruiting supervisor for Enterprise.

“Vanessa is the perfect employee,” Hammond said. “She loves to be trained, is customer oriented and has a nice mixture of aggressiveness and customer service.”
